Now that you have chosen to open a business, it's time to decide whether you will be located in an existing building or creating a new building suited to your needs.

Existing Building

Since you have chosen to go with an existing structure in Lumpkin County with no modifications, LCDA can assist you by providing you access to the building for your layout needs.

Compliance

Check with the Planning Department for compliance with Lumpkin County's Land Use Code

Inspection

Contact the Fire Marshall's Office to schedule a no-fee inspection

Certificate of Occupancy

Upon Successful completion of all required inspections, acquire a Certificate of Occupancy (CO) form the Fire Marshal's Office and pay the associated fees.

Apply For A Business License

Complete a business license application and pay the associated fees at the Planning Department.

Receive Business License

Lumpkin County Planning will issue a business license.

Congratulations!  You are ready to Open and Run your business!

New Construction/Remodel of an existing structure

Are you looking to construct a new building for your business or remodel an existing one?  Start Here!

Compliance

Check with the Planning Department for compliance with Lumpkin County's Land Use Code

Plans

Provide the Planning Department with two (2) sets of plans and provide one (1) set to the Fire Marshal's Office for review/approval/comments and pay associated fees.

Permits

Acquire the necessary permits.

Safety Codes

Complete construction to adopted building/safety codes.

Certificate of Occupancy

Upon successful completion of all required inspections, acquire a Certificate of Occupancy (CO) form the Fire Marshal's Office and the Planning Department and pay the associated fees.
