Yahoola Creek Reservoir Master Plan
The Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners, Yahoola Creek Reservoir Committee, and the Development Authority of Lumpkin County are excited to share the conceptual master plan for the Yahoola Creek Reservoir/Lake Zwerner.
The master plan is the result of public input sessions, demographic research, and an analysis of programs, facilities, existing connectivity, and Lumpkin County policies. The final document provides recommendations on how to enhance and improve the level of services provided on the 200 acres surrounding the Yahoola Creek Reservoir.
Recreational activities are an important element to the quality of life of Lumpkin County residents and provide benefits including environmental awareness, health and fitness resources, and community connection. Activities included in the plan appeal to a wide range of users, ages, skill levels, and interests.
The Board of Commissioners, Yahoola Creek Reservoir Committee, and Lumpkin County staff are continuing to discuss the implementation of the plan with an initial focus on the following priorities:
- Improve existing 3.1-mile hiking trail loop
- Improve amenities at the existing parking areas
