DAHLONEGA, Ga. – As a part of the Lumpkin County Broadband Infrastructure Project, the Development Authority of Lumpkin County & Kinetic by Windstream recently hosted an awareness event for citizens to learn about the overall project & pre-register eligible locations. The Lumpkin County Broadband Infrastructure Project is being funded by investment from Kinetic by Windstream & grant funding received by Lumpkin County Government & the Development Authority from the National Telecommunications & Information Administration & the State of Georgia American Rescue Plan Act State Fiscal Recovery Fund.

The project is to deliver gigabit-speed broadband service to over 7,000 locations in Lumpkin County, with a priority on the locations within census blocks the Georgia Department of Community Affairs has classified as “unserved” through their Georgia Broadband Access Map, https://broadband.georgia.gov/2022-georgia-broadband…. The project is currently in the design & engineering phase with an estimated completion date of December 2023.
